I am pretty sure that GM said that there would only be two V8 DI motors, the 5.3L and 6.2L...the 5.5L for the Corvette was its own special purpose built for that series.

I've heard it said that GM won't put the same engines in Camaros as in the Vette since they don't want anything GM beating the halo car. But, why would Corvette be concerned about a Camaro beating a Corvette when there's 800 or more pounds in weight difference? If that would happen, bone stock, they definitely need to dump the Vette! Give the Camaro the same engines as the Vette!!! Geesh!

So will there be variations of those two displacements or what?

The Corvette and the Camaro share the same engine right now in the LS3..one is made on the assembly line and the other is hand built.

Yeah but that's for the base Corvette. I don't see the top Corvette and top Camaro getting the same exact engine. Maybe displacement but not performance.

They may have two designated displacements but think of how many different applications they will go into and the HP rating of each. Saves R&D money for after market companies and GM itself..don't forget however, I don't see a written rule that either one of these engines couldn't be supercharged like the LSA or LS9!!
