Think of it this way: if you are married in 1967 and then separate in 2002 after 35 years, then reconcile after 7 years, you would still celebrate your 50th year anniversary in 2017 because it would be the 50th year anniversary from the date you were married. You wouldn't wait until 2024.

This has been beaten to death already.

I would've even gone for total years of production. But they're counting the 8-year of hiatus toward the anniversary. Doesn't seem right.

I don't see why people are bashing the anniversary editions.

anniversary [ˌænɪˈvɜːsərɪ]n pl -ries1. the date on which an event occurred in some previous year (a wedding anniversary)
2. the celebration of this

2012 IS the 45th anniversary of the camaro. Has nothing to do with consecutive years being produced.

Umm no it wouldn' be the 50th anniversary of the marriage, the marriage was OVER for 7 years. how does any of what you just said make sense to you? lol
you can't add 7 years of non existance to the timeframe that doesn't make sense. I am actually laughing that you got people to agree with you on this lol

I disagree. If you get divorced, then remarried, are you still going to celebrate the date of your first marriage? Can't just kill the car for 8 years, then sweep it under the rug.

The most sensible thing said here.

It's been 45 years since the Camaro first went into production. Has nothing at all to do with how many years it was made.

Chevy celebrated the centennial with a special edition Corvette. The Corvette wasn't 100 years old. Just celebrating the heritage.

I posted above, he left out a key part of the definition from websters site, hopefully not on purpose.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anniversary
"the annual recurrence of a date marking a notable event"

You can't just change the definition of words for your liking.

Sure, but it was a centennial edition, correct? Not 100th anniversary.

Same thing. Celebrating 100 years of history.

Regardless of whether or not the car was actually produced, the date is still the 45th anniversary of when it first appeared. The production in between is moot. The fact that the first Camaro model was branded 1967 is still 45 years ago no matter how you look at it.

How is a Centennial Edition and a 100th Anniversary not the same thing?

So you're saying that 1976, the Bicentennial of the founding of America, was not the 200th anniversary of the founding of America?

Listen, if you don't approve of it that's fine. But there's no reason to start an argument. BowtieBelle started this thread to discuss the possibilities of a 50th anniversary Camaro. Chevy will make one, and they will call it a 50th anniversary in 2017 whether you like it or not.

I can tell you just want to say you have the last anniversary Camaro, but unfortunately you don't. And you're certainly not going to change Chevy's mind about how they brand vehicles.
