whats this mean? 1st-to-4th skip-shift to deal with when you walk it from a stop

you have an obnoxious 1st-to-4th skip-shift to deal with when you walk it from a stop? Edmunds. Is this a problem or normal thing? i apologize for my ignorance. and thanks for those who respond

There's a solenoid the PCM controls that physically blocks the driver from shifting from 1st into second and 3rd under light load conditions. This means unless you are on the throttle less than a certain percentage, you can only shift from 1st to 4th. I believe it was only active the first time you left from a dead stop and only reactivated after coming to another complete stop, but don't recall exactly. I dealt with it on my LT1 for a couple weeks until I got the eliminator kit. I think it was less than either 1/4 or 1/3 throttle opening. You should be able to tune it out and there may still be eliminator kits out there that will work.

BTW - there's no ignorant question

It's almost just flat-out silly to deal with. I'd like to see if the eliminator kits are out there though for these 6060s. Either way, I'm sure a quick tune will get rid of it; you might as well, because that speed limiter needs to go bye-bye too, LOL (after getting more suitable tires...)

You know, with six-speeds, that auto' looks really great in my eyes. If there is any performance disparity between the auto' and stick I think another tune with shift speed, firmness, and pressure along with some Torque Management manipulation will work wonders. It sounds like it works for the G8 boys.

for those who are new - there's a on the top-right that has proven very useful

Save $20. Instead of the skip-shift eliminator, get a resistor from Radio Shack. $1 for a pack of 5 (I still have 4 available!). Jack up car. Crawl under. Remove skip-shift solenoid connector. Insert Radio Shack resistor in each hole of connector. Seal it up with black electrician tape. Use tie-wrap to secure loose wire.

Problem solved.

I'll have to check when I get home. The remaining 4 resistors are in my garage. I guess that means I need to buy 4 more six-speeds!
