Driver's door won't lock

You know how if you're sitting inside the car with your keys and try to lock the doors, it'll lock, then immediately unlock the driver door?

Well.. mine is doing that except I'm not inside the car. I'm not even close to the car. It's just started it this past week. There are no other keys in the car, so I don't know why it's doing this.

It doesn't do it after every time I drive it, but definitely after every drive to work each morning. I have discovered that if I put the key back into the ignition and turn it on, then off, the car will lock and stay locked. or, if I'm out of the car for a few minutes, then drive somewhere else, it'll stay locked..

Nothing new has happened at work. We're a real low tech mom & pop place, so no new electrical devices here..

Any ideas guys?

Widows are up all the way, but even in the past, if the windows are rolled down, that still 'shouldn't' be an issue.

If you're asking if the windows are indexing correctly, yes, they are.

If no one has any suggestions, I will eventually take it there, but I'm hoping someone has a fix or something.

Sounds like the little switch in the ignition lock cylinder might be hanging up, causing the system to sense a key when one isn't present.

If it happens often enough, a tech with a scan tool could isolate that issue in short order.

I am having the same issue. It seems to be happening when I use the trunk open button on the driver's door, which poses a problem, b/c I am out at a store and the damn door won't stay locked. I end up leaving he store, going home, and the door locks fine once I get there. Any suggestions on a reset? I tried using my spare key fob thinking it might be the fob, but it's doing it with that one too.

I am having this issue too. Could you help me, Brandon? (And I'd rather not disconnect the battery and re-connect it just to get it to stop.)

Have you had this checked out at the dealership? This would be the first step that you would want to take.

No, have not contacted dealer yet. I just started having the issue, and thought maybe I could find a 'fix' here on Camaro5.com
