weird smell from mods?
okay i have a 2010 LS and i recently had BBK L/T with high flow cats along with an axle back flow master and it sounds goooood:thumb up: BUT I'm just a little curious because I'm smelling a stronger gas fume coming from my exhaust more then i ever have and the car is running great but it just has the strong gas smell sometimes at idle
 so any ideas guys or should i not be worried at all. by the way I've checked my oil and all that and of coarse I know my CIL will stay on till i get a tune THANKS

not sure why you'd be smelling more gas, but you will smell the LT's and exhaust as they bake the metal, which goes away after a few hundred miles. you might want to get an ELM bluetooth device so you can monitor your LTFT's or the AeroForce gauge which connects to your OBD ports. monitoring your fuel trims will tell more than what your nose knows.

I bet he is just smelling the "fresh burn" give it a day or two and if it still smell than come back here and let us know, but as hapi said, ALL of you guys need to monitor your car, especially if you are tuned.

Haha love that owl! But he is right about watching everything especially if tuned. Anything can happen with the engine running outside of GM parameters.

since your untuned, I bet your running rich due to the LT headers. need to get it tuned soon though, to get rid of your cel and to get it running to its potential.

short term...not really, just going to consume more gas = worse mpg. i'd be more concerned about running lean since it increases cylinder temps. running too rich can have negative effects on the cats, but since you've got the high flow cats and your getting a tune shortly, you should be fine.
