Yes it is a manual and a neat one at that.

I know the 1LE is meant for handling, especially the tires, but wouldn't it make an excellent base for a high powered street car. I mean close ratio tranny, 3.91 gears and killer suspension with high flow fuel pump. Thinking of buying one and bringing it to a chevy dealer around here for headers, cam and a tune. That should make me around 500 to 525 horsepower and an awesome street car that can move in a straight line or around turns.

What do you think.

Yep they are. The original 1LE's though had no power accessories what so ever or A/C!! Today's 1LE is all about creature comforts while racing.

Yes......And they all have Hill Assist. I've been reading through that thread and they're a pissed off bunch. GM engineers should have their heads examined for putting such a lousy feature on such a awesome car, and no way to disable it.
