Glad to see Tony win another one

Very happy a Chevy won the cup beating a Ford (at their own race)

We'll see if holding the "Cup" will change anything! For those that don't follow NASCAR, Darian Grupp was put on notice as of last month....

Tony made a fan out of me during this chase. He wanted it and he kicked it up a couple of notches. Edwards is hard to beat at Homestead, as he has won there 2x in the last 3 years. I also love the fact Tony won after leaving the Gibbs/Toyota camp.

I could not agree more with this statement! 6 years running now...

It was awesome watching the Edwards Ford chase Stewarts Chevy for 40 laps!

I hope you realize the current R07 engine the Chevy teams runs, was developed by Chevy and JGR before they went to Toyota. Also the teams get some serious backing and support from Chevy.

Second best. 1992's final race was better: Six drivers had a shot at the title, Richard Petty's last race, and Jeff Gordon's first. Alan Kulwicki led one more lap than Bill Elliott, taking the bonus points and allowing him to win the title by 10 points which was at the time the closest points margin in series history.

I fully understand all of that ,but for me they are full out race motors that have very little to do about the cars we drive today. Plus the motors are as close as they get to being Chevy, Ford, Dodge or Toyota. The rest of the cars are pretty much the same thing. That's why for me I believe to credit Chevy before you credit Tony's team and all the hard work that Hendrick provided would be incorrect to me. Tony is a great driver and deserved to be this years champ.
For this reason I would have to agree with the two guys you quoted to. Not that Chevy had no role at all though.

Basically there are three engine suppliers, Hendricks, Roush/Yates, TRD/JGR ... The only stand alone teams are DEI/Ganassi and Penske. The only point I was making was the manufactures are still involved. Everything else NASCAR has developed and made templates for the teams to follow.

We'll never know...

The thing is, Edwards is a yes man. He'll be a great announcer one day but never a champion. I like him but you have to have some balls to win a championship and we all know that nice guys don't finish first.
