Pro Stock vs Top Fuel???

Am I the only guy who would rather watch the pro stock cars race instead of the fuel cars? I think it's because they have to shift themselves and the cars look more like a real car. Anyone else feel the same?

I agree. I prefer the Pro Stocks too because they look like actual cars and I can relate to them better. The attraction of the Top Fuel and Funny Cars is simply the awesome power, speed, and sound. Unless someone is a hardcore NHRA fan, I bet most people would agree with me on this.

Ya, I agree with you. While I do love Top Fuel, Pro Stock is my favorite. Its just funny that most people are bored with a 6 second car. Lol!

Sorry for changing topic a bit... I prefer longer races to the 1/4 mile...

The power and technology in top fuel/ funny cars is impressive, but a 4 second race is well, too short... To me it's like sitting on the inside of a turn at a Grand Prix event... weeeaaaaaahhhhhhh... done until next lap...

ProStock races are 6 seconds, they do shift, and they look more like a real car....

My favorite races of the big boys... Pro Stock... My favorite racing... the mile or more in distance... Obviously not a great spectator sport other than with high level video but twenty or more seconds of wide open throttle is amazing...

Back to your regularly scheduled programming...

I'm a huge fan of the Top Fuel and Nitro categories, but i can see where you're coming from. I have similar feelings on them looking like legit cars and having to shift, etc. I'm just a fan of the NHRA overall haha. I was actually at the US Nationals on Saturday and Sunday. It's the weekend i look forward to the most out of the whole year.

Yep, attendance at NHRA events is steadily declining because of the "boredom"....

Intresting article...it's a long read but it's a good one....

I think he nailed the problem, there is no "showmanship". Bring back the long smokey burnouts, when was the last time you saw a wheel stand? How about some rivalry.... Chevrolet vs Ford....Pedregone vs Force....Snake and Mongoose...

Wow, great article!

As I was reading down through that, I wondered if he was gonna mention Whit Bazemore. I miss him....he was one of my favorite drivers.

Jon Asher has been following drag racing for a very long time. He's only scratching the surface, but he's certainly on the right track.

BTW, one of the fiercest genuine rivalries was between Al Hofmann and John Force, when both were supported by Pontiac.
