This thread is crazy... I actually went through every page over the last week. The end of it is quite a twist though...

I guess I'm sort of confused on the direction or purpose of the car at this point. You originally posted about loving taking it through the turns, and I understand the desire for more power when you had the supercharger put on... but I'm lost between the supercharger and the jump to the LSX 427 with twins?

Everyone I know with a car north of 800hp does it so THEY can race the car, either on the track or at events like TX2K1x... If they just want a hot street car they typically keep the power between 550-650 whp... I can't imagine that in it's current configuration it's as fun to drive on the street? Is the goal to mainly just have your driver race it at different events?

I have loved the thread and mean no offense with these questions I'm just trying to understand what happened after you missed the 600 whp mark with the cam and maggie and made the jump to the new engine and twins. You mentioned your husband thinking the mods were at the $5k mark during the supercharger/wheels phase and you have dropped some huge bank on beyond that...

Basically DE didn't ask her doctor until after they started going down the 427 TT route - at which point it was too late to turn back. But I could be wrong.

Yeah I saw that, but it seemed strange knowing the extent of the injuries she described that she wouldn't have thought of that before the build progressed so far...

I remember her post that sometimes she missed the old setup/car, have you ever considered adding another Camaro to the stable one more setup for street enjoyment? I understand that would be another $24-$30k commitment but it seems based on the build you aren't doing bad in the finances department Maybe turn Smaug into a full blown track car?

It will happen eventually. Give it a little more time. The need for speed, and all that.

I don't see whats funny, and I'm not trying to be disrespectful...

The way I see it when you are at 1300whp, deep in the 8's with a transmission that is set up for the quarter... then why try to retain any form of street manners? It's not going to be a fun street car and some of these things effect performance? For example why not just remove the back seat which is now unable to be used due to the cage and put a delete in? Etc.

The not being able to drive it would be upsetting to me as well... all the money and effort put in and then not being able to go all out for a 1/4 pass?

To answer your question about why I kept adding power, I just fell in love with drag racing after going to some events last year with the group from IPS Motorsports. Those guys have taught me a lot about cars and drag racing.

About the license thing... I really didn't know we would be shooting for under 10 seconds until the car ran 10.06 at C5F3 last year. I was new to drag racing and knew I needed to make some passes to get the NHRA comp license, but I really wasn't aware of the physical requirement until it was too late. D'oh! I asked my doctor. He said no. That's life. I moved on.

I can still drive the car at the track if we tune it to make sub 10 second passes. I can still drive it on the street and to car shows (and I will). Right now, however, we are getting ready to compete at the LSX events this year. I want to see what it can really do, then maybe we will tinker with the tune to make it suitable for me to drive it at a later time.

I keep the interior as stock looking as I can because I want to show it as well as race it. We may take out the back seat eventually. I already sold my subwoofers and we took out the air conditioner out this spring. I like the idea of having a really fast car that can still be a street car incognito.

I'm actually very happy with the car and I'm having fun with it. That's what matters to me.

Terri. Your rear shocks will be done by the end of the week. We made some modifications to them to gain more control.
It is time to turn this thing up and really see what it can do
