I think it's due to a different type of buyer looking at this car.

It's an option on an existing model, not a totally new model. The ZL-1 has been marketed and preached to death and has the big selling point numbers people love to buy in to. The pieces and parts that make the 1LE will entice a certain type of person that understands why not to whine over an automatic.

Not that a highly complex automanual wouldn't be better than an old school human controlled one.. You just won't get that type of transmission in the price point from GM in an SS for a bit.

Saw this in the article. I wonder if it would still be $3,500 to have the 1LE package added to an earlier SS.

You won't get the wheels and tires for 3500. Maybe the rearend, and suspension upgrades.

I would've liked to have seen more of a reduction in weight but it is a very nice package if you are buying new. I wouldn't take my Camaro back for it though.

As for gears....you can get those already. I had a friend that is looking to add 3.73 gears to his ZL1 A6 and said Scoggins & Dickey has the gears for $310 + $400 for install. Probably a little more for the 3.91 gears though. I haven't confirmed that price, that's just what i was told. I paid alot more than that for my 3.91 gears.

I'm going to eventually have my car close to 1LE specs. I didn't say it was a 1LE or would even perform like a 1LE....just close. I need lighter wheels and the axles (but not until mine break). Beyond that it's mostly the different gearing in the trans.
