Just wish GM would offer these mods and allow us to keep our warranty, that way on paper corvette would still be clear winner but on the track / 1/4 mile camaro could smoke the GT500 and still keep its warranty.

Plus GM has to keep those cars A) reliable and B) smog legal in all states. Not everyone can mod their car the way some people can due to state laws.

I used to think that the Camaro would be second place to the Corvette but the fact is the ZL1 is only second to the ZR1 in HP. It beats out the Z06 by 75 HP.

Maybe GM believes that 580 HP is the limit that the Camaro chassis can put down without too much wheel spin without needing upgraded parts which would make it cost significantly more. There's a point where the ZL1 can cost so much that some people may say for only X dollars more I can get a Corvette Z06.

And you need to wait for the last year of production for the 5th gen. It is then, and only then that you will have the best Camaro GM ever offered. To think GM will never improve the ZL1 is very narrow minded thinking.

Sorry goes out to you 2012 guys, but the 2013 ZL1 is bound to be better.

Sorry goes out to you 2014 guys, but the 2015 ZL1 is going to be perfect.
I'm tempted to wait until 2015 for that reason. If the 6th gen is coming out in 2016, 2015 should be the year of the ultimate 5th gen. I want to wait and get exactly the car that I want. I do get jealous of the people driving around in their 5th gens though, and now to know that people are driving around in ZL1's makes it even tougher. Got to be strong though.

I had read somewhere that the LS3 was going to get a 20hp bump. Should be easy to do. Surprised it did not happen for 2013. Figured the 1LE would have got it.

Everyone should remember as well that 2014 is supposed to be the debut of the C7 Corvette which should get Hp bumps across the board. This will give the Camaro some breathing room for hp bumps.

And just where do you draw the line?
No matter what configuration any manufacturer comes out with regardless if it's GM or Ford, or Chrysler, etc, there will be simple mods to make it better.

There has to be a balance somewhere between feasability, cost, reliability, etc.

I'm just tickled to death to get a machine like the ZL1 that comes WITH a factory warranty, and is MEANT and DESIGNED to run on both the track and the strip.

I would say the top model challenger is a joke. 470hp for 50grand. I have been in one and driven it down the highway and out in town. I just don't see it coming up to Chevy and Ford.

Now I will have to say the hood scoops are funuctional. They would probably get some more hp if they add a supercharger to the 392 that is in the yellow jacket.

I'm shooting for '14 and/or '15 if its really gonna be badass.

I am a diehard chevy fan, but not for anything...if the match up between the ford and chevy ends up being lopsided without a chevy rebuttal, then I may not buy either one.

With new federal laws, the next gen may not even have V8's! I mean even if they do have V8's, they probably won't be as powerful as they are now! May be why both company's are pushing the limits now! This can't stay this way forever! But who knows!

Trust me, you don't need more power when you can spin the wheels in 4th gear(on wet pavement). Ford is getting the focus on what doesn't matter (unless you're drag racing). Handling will matter more if you want to enjoy the car and that's something that the Ford will probably not have because of the live axle, conventional suspension and crappy weight distribution. You can only do so much on street tires adn less than perfect roads...

we'll see soon enough.
