4L80E Torque Converter
My last post got deleted. I am in the process of converting my M6 to a 4L80 and I am trying to decide on a converter to order. My ultimate goal is to have a 10 sec street car. Just looking for some input from the experts and guys running a Centrifugal blower and a 4L80. What converter are you using, stall, is it a single or multi-disc lock-up, and how is your drivability. I have been considering a 3600 stall but have been wondering how is the drivability. Thanks

Matt at FSP has my car right now with a new 4l80 and a 3600 single disk converter, he should be able to tell you how it drives....I've been told it rides pretty good

That is awesome, do you know which converter company he's using? I will be calling Circle-D, Yank, Pro-Torque, and Precision Industries today. I don't know much about single or multi disk lock-up, lets see what they say. I know Padre is using an FTI 3200 on his 6L80, but he also has a 4.02 first gear compared to 2.48 on the 4L80. I think Centrifugal blowers need a little higher stall then roost blowers.

The other thread that got deleted when they rebooted Camaro5. Someone had posted a nice video driving around with a 5000 stall CircleD converter with great drivability.

I'm going the same route in the next month. My 4l80e is being built right now. Im going with a 4400 circle d multi disk pro. Iv only had good luck with circle d converters and the customer service is 2nd to none. So circle d is my vote! I currently have a 3400 multi disk pro in my 6l80

You'll want a multi disk for your higher hp setup

JChaluja's does drive quite well. The PTC converter is nice and tight for the street.
Fred over at PATC also makes a nice converter for the 4-speeds. Trying the new TCI Pro-X in my TH400, but they do not have a Pro-X fitment for the 4L80E. Have not tried them yet. |

Guess I will find out about that PATC converter shortly.
Regardless my preference has always been Vigilante and used them on multiple cars. Always had great success with their converters and how they can customize them for what you want. My current triple disc converter stalls between 3400-3600 and runs good on the street. My single disc 3200 was excellent when I was NA. I still think with FI that you want a triple disc especially of you plan to hit the track at all.
