I bought dynamat xtreme from amazon. my buddy and i actually went waaaay overboard (which is awesome) and put 108 square feet of that stuff throughout the entire car!!!
It is absolutely insanely quiet. I mean NOTHING makes noise. We spent about 20+ hours on the job. |

This is the best price I found: http://www.amazon.com/Dynamat-10455-...8057177&sr=8-1
It takes 9 18x32 sheets just to do the trunk. |

Long as weight isn't an issue dynmat is good stuff, there is no way it could not work by the shear mass of it. By design it can't fail.
But it adds up quick and if you are keeping track of them tenths of a sec..... why I follow the Vette boys n go Smitty. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...ab=AllFeedback Last edited by 2ndgenz28; 03-10-2010 at 09:58 PM. |

i have used a lot of Dynamat and I have also been through a thousand go arounds about what products that you can use that are cheaper that work as good... and it always seems there were more guys who used the "other" products that ended up pulling them out because they got greasy when heat got to them , or they smelled bad and usually both...I have even heard of guys going to Home Depot to buy roofing material they say works just as good....all BS
The best place to buy Dynamat is usually Ebay .Make sure what you want to use as they have different products . I used Dynamat extreem in my 69 Pro Tour car and pre-Dynamat you couldn't hear yourself think over the 427 SB roller motor. Now I can actually have a conversation on my cell phone.. kind of But seriously there is a huge difference with sound and even heat coming off the firewall The key thing is not only price but pay attention to shipping charges. This stuff is heavy . |

20 sq feet is not enough to do the trunk and trunk lid; you need about twice that much.
If you get the bulk pack that I mentioned in post #7 above, that will cover the lid and most of the trunk. |

remember, you only need to cover about 25% of the area to effectively dampen the sound. Covering every square inch will not gain you much more than covering 25% will. This is not sound "insulation" it is simply mass loading the sheet metal to dampen vibration.

one of my buddies did use the "peel-n-seal" stuff from lowes in his blazer. it really did make a huge difference in his truck and so far hasnt had any issues with it! i know its not the best stuff to use, but its better than nothing!
