I'm glad they are adding new features... but this should be an option in 2SS... even my vette didnt come standard with these... i wouldnt want them in this type of car.:(

Hey someone had to say this..might as well be me. Instead of the backup sensors, I'd rather see the ambient lighting wrap-around the dash, man!

If they are installing these at the factory, perhaps they could have the sensors integrated into the rear fascia instead on glued on to the back. If they could make the sensors (nearly) flush with the body, then I'd be all for it. But no way am I going to paste a couple of lumps on the bumper. Ugh. At that point I go for the full camera and ambient lighting

Can't argue with that.

Look before you back in? Detroit, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Raleigh... all big cities have shitty parking lots, just be aware and you dont hit shit.

I'm not necissarily saying no backup sensors period, but make it an extra option for people who need them.

i think it will good to have the sensors,i have them on my truck and they help, but so far i can see fine to back, but i do think it should be an option, not a standard option on most of them....next i lokk for them to have the amb.lighting going across the dash, that will not make me happy unless it can be added to the current maro's for little cost or even as a campaign or recall since it was originally supposed to be available,

They are not standard. It is an add on option. I don't know why all yall think they would make it standard...

Yeah I actually got a call from my dealer last night about this. He said that it is a $295.00 increse in price and that since it is a safety feature and my car has not gone into production yet that if I told him that I didn't want the back up sensors that GM would not produce my car! Personally I don't really care if they have them or not. I did not order my car for power or speed. I ordered it for style. And the way I see it anything that could be used to my advantage to keep the car in pristene condition such as these sensors I am all for! But that's just me...

Some good discussion here.
I personally think it is a nice option - and I am impressed that GM is listening and paying attention to feedback in a very dynamic way.
I do agree that it should be a selectable option - for folks who dont feel that they need them and who are concerned about the look of the car.
I dont understand the weight concern since the camaro is already a pretty heavy beast and these things really should not weigh that much
You could probably save more weight by assuring that you go to the bathroom before driving the car ;-)

I have a lifted Excursion w. backup sensors. Seeing behind this mini school bus is not the easiest thing so in that case they are very helpful. The only thing that bothers me about them is that they beep really loud when I am backing over my neighbors cars when they are parked in my parking spot.

Back up sensors will be included on the 2SS, 2LT and 1LT w/SRJ package.

Because it say "WILL BE BUILT" not "Will have the option for sensors added"
