what else did you consider before buying your camaro?

I personally considered a lot...

At first (about a year and a half ago) it was a saturn sky red line, then i got interested in the volvo c30, then a CTS, thought about an astra for a few feeks since it would have been significantly cheaper than my other options. The sky wasnt practical, the c30 was pretty nice, the base price on the CTS kept going up, and the astra felt too much like an economy car.

Then i started aiming a bit higher. Got interested in the G8 gxp, bmw 135, and mercedes c300. The c300 felt like an old man car, the bmw was way over-hyped: not worth 42 grand to me, and i liked the G8 gxp a lot but waited too long. All the G8s got bought up and i couldnt find one the way i wanted it. plus the dealer i went to wasnt giving me a deal at all even though our tax dollars are keeping them alive and they have hundreds of cars in their inventory and a brand new showroom they need too pay off, they should have been a lot more motivated to make a sale (they also wanted over msrp on a camaro). Honestly i might be driving a G8 gxp right now if the price was right.

the camaro is my style. big, "american", v8, rwd, manual transmission, 2 door. and i love the retro look of it, especially in IOM, orange accent interior, and black hood stripes.

so what else did everyone consider? and why did you rule it out?

I was considering the BMW 335i. Looked at the Z06 that was a couple years old. But ordered the 2SS/RS Rally Yellow.

This is weird, but was looking at buying a new F-150 for the past 9 months. Just not sure I like the current styling of the F-150. So, instead, I'm keeping my current '03 F-150 and purchasing a Camaro. Should hopefully be here around September.

I looked at challengers which i personally think they look great. But i like the Camaro better and the fact that that it would be an extra $6k or so to get the same power with a SRT that i can get with the SS just sealed the deal really. I know i could have gotten the Challenger quicker than the Camaro but it was obvious that bang for the buck was MUCH higher with the Camaro. If the SRT challengers were cheaper it would have been a battle for me to choose.

I looked at the Camaro SS but with the dealers playing games trying to get the most money I bought another CTS instead and am glad I did. Back in 1998 I swore off Chevy's for the rest of my life after a problematic 1998 Monte Carlo Z34 and a local dealer who could have cared less. Almost ordered the Camaro but when they told me there was no guarantee of even getting a car, I gave up. They were taking as many orders as they could get and said the selling price would be determined when the car arrived. When I asked if it was MSRP or lower, they said no it would be MSRP+. Not acceptable to me so I walked out and never looked back. I got the CTS at invoice - over $5,500 in GM card and GM incentives.

But seriously, the Challenger. That thing is a beast.

About a year and 3 months ago I was thinking of getting a Mustang GT, but I was never a Ford man. I started looking at C6 Corvettes but ran across an article about the 2010 Camaro. That was it right there. I found Camaro5 and started researching and never looked back.

I've been looking for a car since I was 15, and now that I am 18 I'm getting a '10 Camaro. In the beginning I wanted an old school muscle car but without modern safety features my parents said it was a no go. So as long as I saved up for half, my parents would consider a newer car. So years of work and years of saving cash it was time to decide which to get.

I was limited to V6's since insurance is cheaper for a young adult. I looked at 2005+ Mustangs and a few GT's, 350z's, Challenger SE's, Hyundai Genesis Coupe, and then the '10 Camaro. I drove both types of Mustang's and liked the GT but the kit that was on it was to low so I moved on. I also drove a turbo V6 stang which I really liked but before I decided it was sold. Next I went to the Challenger but I found it pretty big. Then I saw a blue 350z which my parents loved but then found that it was a manual and I didn't want my first car to be a manual since I suck at driving stick. So that was out. Then the Genesis Coupe came along and at the same time the '10 Camaro. I saw both at the local Auto show and I fell in love with the Camaro right then and there.

That is basically my story. Now all I have to do and wait until late this month or early next month.
