Good weekend turned bad
So I went to NJMP for the weekend. Chin Motorsports was running a HPDE on Thunder.
Weather was iffy but I wanted to get back on the track. Wet track Saturday morning but it cleared up and dried out. Lap timer wasn't working but I felt like I made some good laps. Saturday night it RAINED. So Sunday the track was very wet with some standing water in places around the tract. Made some easy laps. Got a little dicey in some spots but nothing too bad. Over the day the track was getting better so I was pushing harder. Using it as a car control exercise. Well in the last session coming off 11A (a right hander not very sharp) I guess I got in the throttle a little too hard. Car snapped to the right in the blink of an eye and into the tire wall I went. https://imageshack.com/i/plsmgqhmj The good news is prior to this event I had installed a 6 point harness and was wearing a Hans for the first time. Also with the race seats the air bags were in operable. Don't know the extent of the damage yet but I don't think it's too bad. Mostly sheet metal and plastic with the exception of the suspension. I know it's trashed. I'll start tearing it apart this week and see what's what. And I live to race another weekend but not on a wet track

Man, I feel for you. Looks like if you are a diy guy, you can fix most yourself. Good luck, keep us posted...

Glad you're ok - sucks about the car. As you said, it doesn't look awful, as far as track day carnage goes you look like you got away pretty cleanly. Count your blessings.

I figure if you put your car on the track or strip then you have to accept the risk and can't cry if it goes bad, and it's not a reason to give up what I love.

A few car issues of my own, but otherwise OK.

Don't think I've ever driven T'bolt in anything more than spotty left-over dampness from a previous day's shower, so I other than on the exit to T10 where there can be a puddle I don't know where on that track the wetness tends to remain. But wet painted surfaces scare me even though I will drive wet sessions. Norm
