Budget coilovers?
So i wanted to post in here because it applicable to my uses. I was wondering if people had experience with running the cheaper coilovers like pedders supercars vs DSE/JRI. i dont have the $6k for DSE but might be able to budget the $2k-$2500 for some coilovers. i feel like my current set-up isnt working well for me on the auto-x. for track i think its fine but the stiff springs rates on auto-x make transitions tricky. any input are appreciated!

A lot of factors to think about. I had Pedders supercars. 450/560 springs, odd valving( either to soft and bouncy or to stiff, subjective I guess)the setup seems more suited to road courses. Dse are the best, but I have been told you need to rebuild them now and then after hard use, again depending on use. I run regular Ridetechs for the best ride and they have great handling, they are only rebound adjustable, fine for autocross, for me, you may want more adjustability. I have a rough, loose surface and the shocks set in the middle work great, don’t want them stiff for that surface. Most mfg’s seem to sunset setting coilovers in the middle to start for Autocross anyway. I run spring rates 300/550 spec’d by JDP, again for ride and handling on a bad rough surface that has inclines and “hills”. I run dse swaybars also, and not set still, more in middle. All of these parts set to work together for the courses and surface we run on

I have the Pedders XAs now — good budget coilovers. Amazon had them for $915 during the holidays. Believe they’re $960 now.
Adjustment is good. Super cars have the canisters and allow you to adjust compression and rebound. https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showp...postcount=2347 https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showp...postcount=2348 https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showp...postcount=2350 https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showp...postcount=2351 https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showp...postcount=2358 Have the Pedders camber plates and Detroit Speed goodies too... And lots of other upgrades too... -Don

seems like ridetech HQ, AFE and pedders all seem to be in that range of budget "good" stuff.

My ridetech HQ have been pretty decent. Single adjustable fox shocks + hyperco springs. Have tracked with them, they did pretty well from what I could tell - but I'm not sure they're worth the $2200 full price tag. I got them barely used for less than 1k, and for that they are about right. It is (or least feels like) an upgrade from my 1LE suspension.
I'm upgrading to MCS 2wnr (much more expensive) since my Camaro is going to be 95% track only car and I want a more serious suspension that can carry me a lot further along. I've always run budget suspension, finally decided to just buy what I really wanted An inbetween option that I was seriously considering are the Ohlins R&T. If my focus was going to be 50/50 street/track then I probably would have gone with Ohlins. A bit more than 2500, but less than MCS.

I stopped recommending Bilstein because they've been out of stock for a long time.
Sport springs + bilstein sports are a great upgrade. If you don't need adjustable height or adjustable rebound (and compression if 2 way) then I don't see the point in coilovers, and bils are one of the best shocks out there for an upgrade from OEM. But the PSS10 (B16) that might be available...seems a bit pricey. I did have a set of the PSS9 on an Audi TT, they were stiff on the street but worked very well. If they are expensive (looks like they are 3k+) I'd probably look for another option (like Ohlins or motorsports level stuff).

Question for the group, I have bmr 1" lowering springs n like the look but not the ride as much. I like to drag race my car once in awhile otherwise just street use. Would a set of US ridetechs be away to get a stock ride and lower the car as well!

It won’t be a stock ride, that is only possible with the stock setup.but is probably the best riding coilover out there. You can lower it as other coilovers. And for drag racing you can adjust the rebound soft front and stiff rear for launches. Shipped spring rates are 275f and 500 rear. And they can ship with rates you want also
