Will work for track time....

Will work for track time

I am now the DE (Driver Education) equipment manager for the local Porsche club. I had a really good time at last HP event which was put on by local Porsche club. I met and spoke to the DE President who races a Corvette, so we talked GM. They have a good group and were very welcoming for non Porsche drivers.

I live pretty close to their home track MSR Cresson. For the minor inconvenience of getting there early and setting up radios, flags, coolers, etc I get free track time. Twice a year they go to different track and I will need to actually haul their gear. I already have hitch and trailer and their gear is bulky and not heavy.
Should be a win/win

For others out there that do not have unlimited HP budget, talk to the groups at your track. Who knows what help they might need.

Awesome! Good job on securing yourself some trade for track time. I would enjoy helping out different orgs - I just like being around it anyway even if I'm not driving.

Not sure when I'll get my car back so I'm watching all these track days slide by...it's a little painful haha.

The PCA group also does credit for corner work help. If you do not drive and work corners, then you get credit for future use.

Sorry to hear about your car, hope you get it back soon.

Cool, that's common with motorcycles too, a lot of folks earn track days by corner working.

Eh it was voluntary...I took it in for a mild cam upgrade...but it turned into a bit more than I was planning for! End result will be more power than I need for track work...but it will be fun

I know the feeling. My car just got down off jacks from oil cooler, radiator, and brakes. Depressing seeing it on jacks for several weeks.

That's good stuff though. I installed the Mishimoto oil cooler, and the CTSV front brakes. As part of the engine work going on now I've included the Mishimoto radiator (might as well). Hard part for me is I don't have the car since I'm not doing the work, and there is quite a bit of waiting time for some of the job.

Not the best timing though, spring events are some of the best in Texas because it's not yet stupid hot outside. Trade off is more chance of rain. I need more than one track car. My wife would love that...

baaaahababahahahahah

My wife has a hard enough time with the parts I buy and the time the car is on jacks. I am a very slow worker and only have nights and weekends. And I occasionally break parts and have to buy more parts to replace them.

On a side note, there is a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix NASCAR CUP car for sale for 28k. Not bad price for your own NASCAR.
