My first performance mod
So after doing a bunch of cosmetic mods (lighting, door sills, blacked out bow ties, etc) I finally made the jump into performance stuff. I added a K&N typhoon cold air intake tonight. So far I'm happy. It was a fairly easy install considering I've never down anything under the hood of a car before other than change oil.
The sound is definitely a little more aggressive when opening up the throttle and the engine feels peppier. One question. I didn't remove the negative terminal from the battery as I had read that there's very little change of a CEL with this intake. Is there any other reason that I should have done this? The other question is...what's next for mods? I'm thinking exhaust but there are a million options and it wouldn't be cheap, so probably something I wait for a little on. Any suggestions? Just thought I'd share. The permargin widens |

congrats.. now.. I think you should do a catch can if u dont have one.. gotta protect that engine.. Next.. I think most ppl will agree that Ported Throttle body or Intake Manifold isolator.. Exhaust is nice for the sound but from what I can tell and seen and heard it wont you much performance..

Thanks guys. I was thinking of a catch can as well. Seems like most people on here recommend it. Funny you mention the intake manifold isolator. I was just looking at those last night after reading the Mace vs. Black Iceolator thread. Didn't even know that was an option before. I'll have to do some research on ported throttle bodies.

Yeah.. just followup some threads.. I think u should probably go catch can and then insulator and ported tb.. just me here.. if u look at the threads of how much oil the car takes in u probably be ordering one right now... it sucks Cuz its not really performance wise.. but it will help ensure ur engine stays clean and last longer..

Get a Black Ice-Olator next. Great mod for the money!

Quick question! as you put in K&N intake is that gonna change the sound a lot? Since the v6 already have the scary sound, even with the new intake installed can u even notice the different at all?

There's hardly any sound difference at idle or low revs. When you open up the throttle on harder acceleration is when you notice a bit of a deeper growl of the engine. It's a nice little sound addition, but not very drastic. I don't have any other performance mods, so I'm not sure how it affects the car if you already have an exhaust
