The obvious first:

426 hp and 420 tq for the LS3 to 400 hp and 410 tq for the L99.

L99 Tune vs LS3 tune will pretty much null those numbers out... assuming you will tune at some point....

Auto start is cool for L99

Roughly the same power regardless of what the hp and torque numbers say. L99 will be more mod-friendly and seems to respond much better to a good tune. The L99s that are actually running correctly have been a touch quicker in the 0-60 times but the LS3 takes it by .1 or .2 in the 1/4 with a higher top end speed. The paddle shifters once you get good at it could make up for that .1 or .2 secs in the 1/4. Seems like the LS3 sounds a little better with an aftermarket exhaust put on, but both are great engines as long as the L99 isn't one of the ''problem children''.

The "problem child" issue on the L99s seem to have a fix now. Pulling the fuses for the ECM...Do a search...so far it seems to make a big difference.

Yes...they use a laptop to make the adjustments but there is WAY more to it than just hooking it up to the lap top. Where you would change out the Jets and Squirts and things like that on a carb you do those sort of things using software. Obviously you can fine tune it much more than a carb and you typically need the car on a dyno to get a baseline run and then some runs after adjustments. This is NOT something you are going to want to try on your new Camaro. Take it to a professional speed shop and make sure they've actually worked on a 2010 Camaro before. Also know that more than likely you will void your drivetrain warranty with a tune because the ECM (on board computer) will let GM know that the factory tune has been overwritten thus voiding the warranty.

Basically a flash to your ECM (electronic control module). These cars are setup very conservative and run VERY rich. Timing, fuel mixture... For L99 the TM torque managment is a huge upgrade to when and how your transmission shifts. You can also get rid of AFM so it won't cut down to 4 cylinders.

Drivetrain warranty is basically dead with a tune. Try CAI Cold Air intake and Catback exhaust for starters if you want to keep warranty.

There is no better Camaro. For those who drive for function, the automatic transmission will always be more consistent, but manual transmission proponents will always proclaim that their car is more fun to drive. Both are 6.2L V8s, and both will have equal access to tuning software that will allow users to make them hit similar performance numbers when using the same afermarket components. Each has mainstream aftermarket manufacturers building parts, and the internals match. Even if it were possible to argue that one would have slightly better track numbers in an ideal match, the other could just as easily win the next race. In all truth, they are such an even match when the same parts are applied that there is no difference in performance.

If you're going to compare the two Camaros, then it all comes down to discussing the transmission. Is a flywheel better than a torque converter? Which company makes the best part that would create a significant gap when compared to the other car? In order to tell, we'd need to test two identical Camaros except for their transmissions.

At the end of all of this analysis, it comes down to miniscule differences, begging a question: which one would you rather drive? That's all the really matters.

neither are bad both are great

could one be better then the other for you and your overall goal and intentions for the car sure. but that only comes down to what tranny you prefer auto or manual

both are really the same when it comes to modding, one is the same as it's been for a long time, the other is slightly different due to newer technology(that actually works this time lol)
