Neither. Your profile says you drive a VW GTI. Keep driving that and spend your parents money on a college education. You'll get much more use out of it then you will an SS that you've totalled because you were showing off.

I would rather have a loaded RS than a stripped down SS any day!

16 years old, please don't get an SS. it really has to do with one thing: inexperience at driving. you may be the most mature 16 year old out there, but you don't have any experience driving.

agree with previous statements when you say "compete with friend's car," you act like it's already about buying a car to race. that's a bad, bad idea to purchase a car. being 16 just makes it scary.

The 3.6 is a mean little motor! If I were you, I'd go for the 2LT. PLENTY of power, good mileage (and that's going to be important once you're paying for your own gas) and you can get all the amenities (halos, leather, ambient lighting, shiny lights on dash) that will impress the ladies

We've gone over it before, and will again. Don't let your ego turn the above statement into an insult- it isn't. The SS truly does possess some terrifying power. Way more than you'll ever need for around-town driving, or even occasional light-to light sprints. (go ahead, act like you're not going to race your buddy's Civic at least once) Even 312HP is ALOT of gumption for someone that's new to the road, so don't push too hard for the SS. I think the sixer will make you happier, and you might just keep it on the road long enough to make it through high school and still have a car.

I say buy neither. Why would a 16 year old need a brand new Camaro?

Sorry, jealousy talking. I'm still waiting to buy my own. I had to graduate high school, get an engineering degree, find a good job, then save up a down payment. Now I can finally get one.... once they start making the Bumblebees.

I'm sure you'll be happy with either choice. I'd prefer a 2LT myself. I want the extras, rather than a higher insurance payment and more gas going into the tank.

Some comments I made did seem immature, by the time the Camaro is in my hands I will be past 17 years old, I am a very responsible driver, I've had no tickets, no accidents, I haven't even been pulled over once. I do understand the power of the car because I've driven my parents cars and my brothers, which is the VW GTI. That is not my car, just what I drive (if and when I am allowed to). Not every 16 year old is an immature douche bag as some of you are saying. If your parents offered you a car like the Camaro at age 16 would you say no? My point exactly.

I love all the tech stuff. I'm trying to persuade my way into a 2SS but if that doesn't go so well, I will stick to the 2LT, I'm thinking.

A V6 Camaro is too much for a 16 year old,let alone an SS. Start off with a Cobalt. This is from someone who has done some real stupid things in his teen years with cars that were way too fast and got lucky.
