L99 Axleback question..

We have sold a few systems now and it seems the Magnaflow Comp Axleback really sounds good on a Camaro SS A6 or 6SP....We did Pypes complete kit and that sounds pretty good too...Flowmaster HushPower was a little quiet for me...

I was hoping a few A6 guys could give me an opinion as this is my personal ca and I dont wanna make a $$$ mistake and buy the wrong system for my tastes.

I am going to tune the car so the AFM will be tuned out.

I only want a axleback but I want something that people will hear w/o interior noise...Again I will make a delete kit myself if that would be the easiest as far a price otherwise I need some opinions from some of you guys.

Thanks
Joel

Hi, my custom Magnaflow cat-back has very little interior noise and very minimal drone!

Since you're only doing axle-back, Magnaflow mufflers are meant to be a bit more on the deep tone side so it'll be a bit quieter. It should also yeild minimal interior noise!

I have the Magnaflow Axle Back , LMR Intake, and a Livernoise Tune with no AFM and this setup sounds great, no drone and I drive a lot of highway miles (over 15,000 miles on the odometer), sounds excellent with outstanding performance. It is loud enough for me, don't even want headers as I love it as it is.

I'm sure you will fall in love again once you hear the car with headers...just saying.

But for people who don't want headers or can't afford it, my vote is for the magnaflow comp series.

after putting on my borla s-type, i found that the car would probably sound better with just a muffler delete. 1. its cheaper 2. the sound is way better 3. it won't be too loud because of that damn resonator in the middle of the car.

Does the Magnaflow Axle back Competition series (muffler delete) system just bolt on or does it have to be welded?

it's simple ... just cut the stock pipes just past the axle ... slide off the large water filled 100lb mufflers and the Magnaflow's just clamp over the pipe you cut. FYI.. I never drove in the rain (and only 500mi) and like everyone else on here had a few gallons of water in each muffler.. the drain hole on these don't work for some reason.

here's a accurate video of how it sounds

I am going with Pypes version of this axleback as we are direct with them and there pricing is going to very competitive...I have 3 of these on order and should see them next month.

Check out pypes for pricing on these in the next couple of weeks.
I believe they are going to right around 295.00

304 SS along with SS 4.5in Tips..
Its basically a muffler delete just like most others sell at a better price

I tried to have a Magnaflow Come Series installed over the weekend and the shop I took it to informed me that I wouldn't pass inspection in PA with the mufflers removed. Do you know anything about that??

I just put the Borla S Axle back on my car this last weekend and I love it. There's some drone on the highway from the AFM, but running in 5th gear and Sport mode prevents it from kicking in and only impacts the mileage by about 1 mpg. I also found that adding the CAI Intake made a huge difference in the level of growl when accelerating. People will definitely hear the Borla S, but it doesn't make it impossible to hold a conversation inside the car. My wife certainly noticed the new deeper sound but she didn't complain. That's saying a lot!!

I agree totally with you...Did the same...I got the Hypertech computer
and deactivated the AFM...Very little drone...Borla Type S rocks...
Also liked the way the tailpipes are double walled and fill up the valance
better than stock...

Congrats you will be happy sounds are good and not real loud in cabin. Looks perfect from rear IMO. I will still be adding shorties and maybe the x pipe down the road.
