I get what you are saying, but I don't think the camaro is a car you buy because you need it when the wheels fall off a geo metro.

I would never pay MSRP for a vehicle. Incentives and rebates are far to easy to get and qualify for and the dealers get reimbursed for these so they aren't losing anything. If your dealer won't accept these then go somewhere else.

Many of you have address "why are people still paying MSRP?".

I felt paying MSRP for the 2011 was reasonable, but for some reason many people do not agree with me. How much cost does the dealer actually retain from the camaro? It seems like it is not much. At what point does the dealer LOSE money..is it invoice? Either way.. I think I am being fair, but the reason I ask this question is to better educate myself if the dealer tries to sneak in hidden fees and hose me upon delivery....

the more prepared I am the easier this process will be and the more I save sooner I will be able to purchase the ATAK
Wow, good question!

Let me start by saying...I think EVERYBODY on this board would agree that the Camaro is very fairly priced. You get a TON of power and car for the money. I have had people walk in the dealership and look at a 2SS/RS and say out loud, 'What does this run, around $50k?'

So, do I think MSRP is a fair price? YES! Would I want to pay MSRP?! NO! Do I give my customers discounts?! YES!

Invoice price is what we pay for the car. There may be some other things like advertising fees in the invoice price, but it is still what we actually pay for the car. To give you the exact point at which a dealership is losing money is almost impossible. There are other factors, like contests and Mark of Excellence money that might come in to play.

If the price you are paying is a fair price to you, then that is all that matters.

Money is what makes the world go around. All we do is earn it and spend it...it just keeps circulating. If you pay $500 more for a car than the next guy, will that change your way of life? Will it really make a difference in the long run? I doubt it for most people here. Do you WANT to keep as much of your money in your pocket as you can? I am sure you do. Would I like the opportunity to earn it? YOU BET!

My dealer has #100443 2SS CGM L99 coming into the lot this week. I was working a deal for a 2010 but saw on the dealer website that this one was on it's way. He said he could not give me my GM Supplier discount on 2011 but would knock 500 of MSRP. I countered with 1100 off and they took the deal. Cannot wait until it arrives!!!

Funny because many of you say GM discounts are vaild on 2011's?

They are! Must be that your dealer isn't participating.

We are!

$1100 off is a good deal on a 2011. Its probably comparable to getting $3000 off a 2010, because the car is a full year newer, and will be worth quite a bit more in resale value for at least the next 10 years.

Once the initial surge of 2011 buying winds down (in 2-3 months), better deals will probably become available, but its definitely a good deal at this time.
