So what is Canada Day celebrating? I could Google it but I'm sure you'd be proud to explain, eh?
Like how I threw in the "eh"? I crack myself up. |

We are celebrating our 141st birthday. On July 1st, 1867 we gained peaceful independence from the British, while still agreeing to maintain friendly economic and politicical relationships with the Empire.

We did come up with the idea of an international peacekeeping force.
But Canada (and British North America before it) has had a rather long and distinguished military history. We have yet to lose a war (our record is 2-0 against you). And we were there from start to finish of both world wars. Speaking of WWII, out of our some 10 million people 1 million served in the armed forces, one of the highest percentages of any nation.

Your Navy rocks. I had the pleasure of being deployed with HMS Charlottetown (something like that, may have murdered her name) in 2000. Neat ass frigate and those dudes were great in foreign ports.

Good to hear.
I've heard it said before that our guy's who serve are excellent even if they don't always have the best equipment. The Gov't we have now is taking steps to get them better stuff. |
