Spring rate is a factor in the overall performance of coil overs but to a much lesser degree than it is when you are talking about lowering springs. With coil overs you can adjust the dampers which is what controls the movement of the spring. With lowering springs you do not have that ability so spring rate is the only way to judge how the car will behave once they are installed. Unlike most other coil overs on the market, the Pfadt and Ridetech coil overs both utilize standard 2.5" springs so you can specify a custom spring rate. However, 9 times out of 10 there is no reason/need to do so.
