Window Tint
I've been looking into tinting my windows, I've seen some DIY films that you just put on your windows... Anyone know if those are a hoax or if they're legit?
Also, if anyone has gotten their 4th gen tinted, what did it run you cost wise? |

I did!
Just last month I got my rear window 20% and it was $80 My side windows were $75 at 35% I tinted my t-tops with tint from wal-mart and a tint kit. I dont recommend you tint yourself unless you have done it before a few times. it can get frustrating, too. It is extremely important to know what you are doing and to have the right stuff. Especially the back window. What a mess. But they are definitely worth it, by far!

I would let a pro do it. I wanna get my Accord tinted. I was quoted $100 for all 5 windows...but I'm putting basic tint on it. So ask around. No one can force you to buy anything.
I tinted my G8...but I got the Premium Tint...so I paid $175.

I agree, let a pro do it. That back window is a b**** to do! getting it done at a good shop should run from 150-175 |

I hope you get those side skirts before the weekend. I want to see some pics with them painted and the rest of the body kit on.

Make sure that whoever does the rear hatch has large enough tint to do it in one piece...no seams

Just bought an 02 SS!! first thing I had done was the window tint!! It had 35% on it so it was a lil extra to have that removed and the new installed. Mine was $200 with the removal and 5% on the back and 20% on each side window. 35% is kind of a waste and barley noticable. That is the legal limit in most states but I have never heard or been messed with for having dark tint. I would say to be on the safe side if its an issue to you just do 20% all the way around.

Window Tinting is not a rocket science and those guys make so much more off what they pay for the tint! You basically pay for labor so when you go do it say Ive checked here and here and they told me (ex. $150) for all 3 windows Im shopping around what price can you guys give me?? ....................... somethin like that!! most of the time they just make a guess based off of what you have and hustle you for more!! Unless ur smart and are NOT shy!!

Careful with those... Particularly on a 4th gen. I've been shopping to REPLACE the DIY tint that was on my car when I bought it. It virtually imploded overnight. My point is, some tint SHOPS I spoke to wouldn't even attempt the car, due to the rear window. If the pros are unsure of their ability to apply this stuff, realistically consider the odds here. Plus, anything you get from Autozone or Wal-Mart is undoubtedly not 3M... My advice would be to shop around and find the cheapest shop that applies quality tint. You don't want it turning purple or bubbling off the window like mine did...
PS- if the tint bubbles off your rear window, kiss your defrosters goodbye...
