programming a keyfob 2012 camaro
ok a few years ago there was a recall on the keyfob and the dealer removed with key from it and gave me a separate key from the fob. So now I have 2 separate keys and the fob does not have the key in the fob. I need to program a new fob and I cannot see anyway to do it online unless i get a key cut on a new keyfob and then program it that way? How can I do this after chevy pulled this stunt on me?
Thanks, Craig |

the key is separate from the fob anyway. Do a quick search on here and you can program it the same way any new fob would be done.

I tried that and it does not work. They key has to be cut and inserted unless someone know a way around it.

I called the dealer and the told me to try and hold the 2 fobs together and see if that works otherwise it will need to be programmed by the dealer.

You have to get a service key cut. The service key is a basic metal key that does not contain any electronics.
1.With a previously learned key, turn the ignition ON. 2.Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key. 3.Within 10 seconds of turning OFF the ignition, insert the key to be learned and turn ON the ignition. The vehicle has now learned the new key. To add transmitters, repeat steps 1 - 3 with a transmitter and service key. Hold the service key securely against the transmitter for the entire time that the key is inserted into the ignition. Place the service key at the end of the transmitter so it is centered with the key blade projecting outward from the transmitter. Hold the service key on the side of the transmitter with the Chevrolet emblem to maintain full contact between the service key and transmitter. |

The key fob has three parts: key, buttons and transponder. Check out this link:

If you're just programming a FOB, you need the metal FAT headed key, for your
ignition. You hold it against the FOB, and turn it: You cannot program a FOB or KEY of you cannot turn it in or with the ignition. |
