What's the best paint to use for painting a engine cover?

KRYLON Fusion is a paint that adheres to plastic really well. I've used it before and it turned out great on plastic and metal. IMO it looked like the parts had been powder coated when I was done.

Duplicolor is another good choice. Anyways, always remember that prep is the most important.

I'm interested in painting my engine cover as well. I picked up some Rust-oleum gloss apple red paint. What steps are recommended for prep before paint?

I agree with DonM. No real prep needed, other than cleaning VERY well. The Fusion paint etch's the plastic and adhere's VERY well. I painted a dash on an old truck I had and then changed my mind on the color. The first color WAS NOT going to come off. So I just painted over it and it STILL stuck like super glue!

It is holding very good. I used the engine high temp paint. The can says it is good up to 500 degrees so time will tell I guess.

I recommend adhesion-promotor. Can get it at any autoparts store in the paint section....
