How many miles before needing pads on 2SS?

How many miles is everyone getting on there stock front pads? Did you need the rotors turned?

I put on all new pads and rotors when my front pads were down to nothing and my front rotors were also warped. The rear didn't need to be replaced but I did it any ways. I don't recommend the hawk hps because there is no initial bit like the OE pads. They do have much less dust though. Next I will be trying out the hawk ceramic pads

Also that was at about 31-32k miles

Turning rotors on a performance car is not my preference. Turning removes material from the rotor just as driving removes material from the rotor. If the rotor is deeply grooved, replace it. If the pad is worn and the rotor looks good, replace the worn pads with the same pads you were using.

Warped rotors are rare. Some brake experts say it is so rare it is a myth. 99.9% of the time a warped rotor is nothing more than pad transfer. The "Warped" Brake Disc and Other Myths of the Braking System"

Bedding your brakes with new pads and old rotors or new pads and rotors is very important. "How To Bed Your Brakes"

How many miles you get our of your OEM brake pads and rotor is dependent on how you drive. Drive slow and they last a loooong time. Drive HARD and they last a short time. Run a road course and they last an even shorter time :-)

The most economical way to maintain your brakes is to replace the pads when 50% of the pad material remains. Installing brand new pads at 50% will prevent the rotor from developing deep ridges and also provide optimal braking. Have the brakes bled to freshen the brake fluid. This protects the seals in your master and in the calipers. It also lowers the wet boil point. Do not turn the rotors when you replace pads at 50%. Just bed your your new brakes.

Anyone else needing to change pads? Did you have to change rotors?
