Wonderfully Awful Idea
|
The Age Old Question. AGE!!!!
Some of us aren't haters. We just know the meaning of hard work. Nothing has ever been given to me except for opportunity. Which we all have in the USA. I got my first job at 14 moving lawns and working on a dairy farm pitching sh!t. Farm life is 7 days a week. I spent 5 yrs. 11mo. in the USAF. started 2 businesses 1 of which is still doing well. I, just now at 48 feel that I deserve the New Camaro I own. All others were used except 2 p/u trucks for work. I worked both physically and mentally for all the vehicals I do and have owned. I feel that if any one wants to post that they got a new car ----COOL. But you don't have to post your age. All it does is piss others like me off. Congrats the best gift is wisdom. We love our children. Teach them honor, respect and value. Most of all respect.

I really dont see why this shit matters anymore, age is a number. A Camaro is a Camaro. No matter what age you are, if your driving one, your cool in my book.

People should be happy that other people have some joy in their lives. People should not be jealous or angry because that other person's happiness came easier than theirs.
in the alternative, if you cant be happy for the kid that got a sweet 1st car when you got a beater (yours truly) or nothing as your first car then be happy for the kid's parents who got him the car. They probably worked hard for that money, and if they choose to spend their money on buying their kid their dream car (whether deserved or not) and giving them something they never had then I say good for them. Maybe seeing the joy in their kids' faces is what makes them happy. |

Then out of curiosity, at what age is a Camaro owner old enough to post their age without offending you? Besides, I have known only a rare few people who earned their wealth...the vast majority that I am aware of inherited it.

I'm 44 over here and I had a few muscle cars when I was younger. Difference is I restored them myself and everything was not stock.. I learned the meaning of hard work for how long it took to build those cars... My personal fav still to this day is my '70 SS with a 351 cleveland in it.

I will be buying my son a new vehicle as a HS graduation present. WHY may you ask? Because I just retired from the military after 23 years of hard work. My kids saw my husband and I through our deployments (both of us served 23 years each), time away from home, and stressful situations. They never complained and they always supported the family. They are wonderful boys and it is the least I can do for them for supporting mine and my husbands career.
Also, they will work for the rest of their life. Why make them struggle when I can afford to give them a new vehicle? My son that is graduating enrolled to attend WYOTECH when he was only 16. He knows what he wants to do in life and never "expects" to receive anything. He is willing to work while he is in HS because he wants to earn his keep. I will let him work so that he can gain that experience. He has had a checking/savings account for a year. Some kids deserve what they get. My children sure as heck do. Just my 2 cents....

I have felt that some acquaintances' of mine have made some snide remarks about me buying a Camaro at my middle-age. That's fine and it really doesn't bother me. I have been blessed to be successful in the health care field and had the common sense to take advantage of the opportunities that that God and this great nation have given me. People only see the house that I live in now and the new Camaro rolling down the street. They don't see the very lean years of eating bologna sandwiches and scratching every cent together at the end of the month to pay bills. My wife and I couldn't afford to run the central heat/air very much for quite a while when we first got married and used fans and kerosene heaters while she worked and I got a college education (payed for out of my own pocket). So if people want to hate, go ahead, I know what we've been through to get where we are today...
Oh yes, and I walked to school uphill both ways in the snow! |

OP you're just making yourself sound like a bitter old man. If something that small irritates you, there's a bigger problem.
As I read this, I imagined you yelling "Get off my lawn!!!" that is all. |
