When I tilt my steering wheel down all the way I cannot see the Hi beam or turn signal indicators. When I tilt my seat back all the way I cannot see over the dash. When I put a 16 ounce coffee in one of my cup holders I need to hold my arm in an awkward position to shift.

This is stupid.

I don't blame GM for the voluntary recall, I blame the media.

The Camaro recall is getting a lot more press than the Toyota Recall that affects 844,000 cars and SUV's.

While the Camaro key fob might be silly, the Toyota recall is because if the steering wheel airbag deploys, it can shoot metal and plastic shrapnel at your face.

Both recall notices were the same day.

Personally, I'd rather worry about the keyfob.

Will we receive a Recall Notice in the mail or an email? How long before I get a notice of this recall, or will they wait until I bring my car in for service? This isn't an issue for me so I'll probably keep my switchblade key.

That's because you have a wingspan like 6' or more
But if you had very short arms , it can happen
And it also can happen with the new key design , plus now we all will have to worry with having the Fob supported by the key that's in the ignition
And that's what GM was blaming those people that had accidents for over 10 years
This looks more like a GM conspiracy to kill more people by doing what told by GM

I can see it now. GM- they won't bring back their camaros, time to have Onstar shut them all down.

I think it is actually a cheap way of drawing attention to "Hey we are fixing our recalls." Cheap fixes to a more serious problem that was not addressed when it should of been.

If GM wants to give me an ADDITIONAL separate key/fob and I can keep and use my old ones if I choose- then fine and dandy. But the car belongs to ME, which means the key/fobs also belong to ME, and I'm not giving those to them.

Something everyone should know however is that all Camaros going forward WILL have the new set up. There is a stop sale on all Camaros new and used that are on dealer lots. None can be delivered or driven until the changes are made.

According to your profile it appears you went ahead with the purchase. You had to adjust what you were accustomed to to drive this car. I can fully relate to that. I am 5'10" and also needed to make adjustments. I have big feet and sometimes my toe scrapes the trim when I move from the gas to brake pedal. I need to adjust my heel position about a half inch. I rent a lot and it's the same thing every time I sit in an unfamiliar vehicle. I need to adjust some things before I drive off of the lot, and quite often my driving habits need to be adjusted rather quickly as soon as I hit the highway. When the agent tells me they have an HHR or PT Cruiser for me I politely decline because I personally do not feel comfortable driving them.

Please don't take this personal, but the point I am trying to make is that not every car on the market will accommodate everyones physical frame. When I sit in an old VW Beetle, I get a feeling of claustrophobia. I love the car but it's not something I could get used to so I will never own one.

We all have to make our decisions in life. Before I purchased my Camaro the main question I asked myself was, "Will I have any buyer's" remorse?" When I answered with "No" I made my decision and still have no regrets.

Um. No. It's a car key, not the physical embodiment of our cars' souls. Let's take a deep breath and step away from the ledge.

This recall should apply to every Camaro that uses a switchblade key and I believe it will be voluntary.

This recall has nothing to do with any bad parts or system failures. It has to do with two bad design choices.
1. The placement of the ignition switch on the steering column. It's on the lower half
2. The size of the Camaro key

The fix that GM picked sucks. They want to give you a smaller key by not making it a switchblade key and putting the lock controls on a separate fob. I'm not sure how that will affect the security of the key and the lock, as far as being a programmable lock.

What GM should have done was swap out current Ignition system with the key-less system in the Corvette or the CTS. They could have offered it as a low cost upgrade/swap out and any one that did not want to get the key-less instal could have gottin the fob exchange.
