$460 quote for BBK header install?

Does that sound right? Sounds high to me but that's how much I got quoted for the LT's w/ HFC's, new OEM gaskets, and O2 extensions.

What do you guys/gals think?

it was 300 bucks to install my DT shorties, but IDEALG had to weld it on. I dont think you have to weld the BBK's on, do you? If you dont, then I think that is a little expensive.

Nope, you're right. The BBK's are all bolt on.

460 seems a bit expensive but really depends on the shop rate. For 460 I'd attempt to do it myself even if it is a pain in the butt to do

If you are or have a friend that's mechanically inclined, I would save your money and install yourself. There will be plenty more you'll want to do to your car and don't want to waste all that money on labor. Headers are fairly easy. Me and a buddy had them knocked out in less than 3 hours in my garage. just my 2 pennies

wow, that's expensive. what you need to do, is ask a shop what their hourly rate is, and then ask them how long it will take to install headers. I would really like to know what the rate is at the shop that quoted you $460 and/or how long they think it will take them to install. Being VERY conservative, it should take a shop 4 hours and most shops charge 80-100 an hour. so $400 should be tops, for header install. and like I said, that's being VERY conservative.

I paid 380 flat. Took almost 4 hours for a professional muffler shop.

Those places are talking a load of bull. I think it would be Impossible for almost anyone to do a header install on these cars within an hour. Even if you had a team working on it would take longer than an hour.
