Mine does it going forward and coming to a stop or slowly accelerating. I thought it was from the tire since it goes with the speed of the car and that is what it sounded like, but now that I listen closer I am thinking trans. I can replicate when cold or hot - but you can't notice it on the highway, it is only at a slow speeds that I notice it.

GM called the dealer after they looked at the car the first time. They wanted it in the air again to check if the drive shaft tab (label) was spinning and hitting something making the click. It wasn't. The mechanic is recommending a field service engineer get involved.
Car runs great, just this noise...keep you posted.

I had the exact same thing. Turned out that a part of the heat shield was rubbing against the drive shaft. I hope this is all it is with yours. Easy fix.

I notice a GRINDING noise every once in a while when backing up. It SEEMS to be coming from the left front of the car. I can't tell if it's brakes or transmission.
Unfortunately, it only happens every once in a while (mostly when I'm not really paying attention or ready for it) so I can't narrow it down. Car runs fine though and no other REAL problems... I dunno. I'll be taking her in on Monday and report back...

I have this same problem, it's not like the clicking noise that everyone else is describing. It seems like my brakes, but i'm not sure. What I can say is that the people at my dealer are dumbasses and would not have a clue if I asked them. Anyone got any ideas?

However, next day and one full week after this--no more clicking. I gotta think this was my issue as well.

I thought the same thing. I could have sworn it was the rotors grinding or something. Sounded like it was in the wheels and only did it when I was backing up. Turned out it was only the heat shield issue. |

I may have this issue. Today I started my car and put it in Reverse. Before I even started backing up I heard a weird noise (a rattle/transmission type noise that worried me). I backed up and put the car in D then back to R and no noise? When I got home I parked in the driveway and put it back in R and no noise. But I have a feeling after my car sits for a long time and I start it and put in in R, I'm going to get a rattle type noise. It could definately be a heat shield. |

Have the same issue here! Thought I was the only one. Nothing noticable on level ground in reverse but backing down drive way "click.click.click". Have the GM rep in next week at work, going to make him listen to it. If I can replicate it

finally took car to the dealer today... quick fix all they had to do was readjust the heat shield. it was hitting the driveshaft. no more clicking so far at least.

I also took mine in to the dealer and he also told me that the heat shield was rubbing the drive shaft. I would suggest those who have the noise get it fixed mine showed up pretty early and just got worse. They said it was an easy adjustment.
