ORDER QUESTION from a Newbie - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I posted on another site but thought I would try this site to.. sorry newbie

Looking to order the LT with RS package. I’m completely okay with V6. My only concern is if I order today, will I see it before fall? If not, there really isn’t much sense in placing an order. Of course they can’t tell me one way or the other, but can anyone give my some insight to this. The dealer has only placed one order (V8 with all the bells) few months ago. They tell me they can order me one of course…… but it's the timing they have no clue about? I know there a lot of chatter about this … any thought?

I've gotten a range from "after fall" to December from one of the chevy dealers around here. He didn't go into a large amount of detail on the phone with be about allocations and whatnot, only saying that he could "order" me one as soon as I came in. (They're really trying to sell cars!) But, I've also heard 4-8 weeks from the time of the order (ordering now, this week, that is, don't know if that will change) from another dealer that is more popular with more allocations.

So I can't give you a definitive answer, but I'm giving ya what I have.

About ordering the LT, you could if you could find a dealer that hasn't sold all of their allocations. For example 20 allocations but have only sold 10 or so. My guess it would have to be a very large dealer to have alot of allocations.

Or maybe try your luck and wait for them to show up on the lot.....

It may depend on the allacation for your dealer. If he's only ordered one and it's an SS then you're chances aren't too bad. I'm assuming you don't want to drive it in the winter. You might be better off waiting for next year if you wanted a convertible and/or the HUD and other little goodies that won't be on the first MY.

But I think if you ordered it from that dealer it would probably be around Sept. considering the V6 constraint will have another few weeks or so, maybe longer. But in the initial sales the V6 is the underdog as far as order numbers.

No real definate answer, I'm only speculating based on the info we have now. Some will have a more optimistic veiw and others a more pessimistic veiw.

I will all depend on the dealers situation....Some dealers may not have even sold a car yet. ( I know of at least one ).
