Two Cosmetic changes this weekend

One intentional, one not so...

Friday night Fish Fry in Wisconsin and the regular haunt was full so it was out to the street to park for me and the boys. I got too close to the curb.. (before) ouch!!

Thankfully, I had some tricks in my bag. A small sanding stone, 400g, 1500g, and 2000g sandpapers, Flitz metal polish and my Porter Cable. (after) The rim is now presentable and doesn't look like someone took a cheese grater to the edge of the rim.

Feeling good about myself, and against the advice the Junkman (sorry AJ, that fender has been bugging me for years) I took the 1500 and the 2000g sandpaper to the old 68 to fix some pealing clear coat.

To qualify, I truly did do this against the Junkman's sound advice and definitely "hold harmless" for those insurance types, anyone on the forum. Also, Junkman's advice about a paint depth meter is a must. I know I was going to be okay with the base coat, but the black stripe was questionable at best. I'm pretty sure I nicked a little of it since the clear was thin in this area, but as you can see, it was just too "pealy" for my tastes and I felt confident in my skills from old projects.

You guys and gals decide.

That's good work, on both. Now how about a full pic of the 68?

Thanks Dylan and all. The pic's above were after I clayed and SHR'd her for the first time. After I hand applied the Butter wax, it looks even deeper and wetter.

I'm still driving my 2010, and while I keep it clean, I don't want to put the kind of time into it that I need to until I get it ready for the long winter nap. Say a prayer for no snow her in WI for 2 more weeks. Then its time for Buzz's nap!

It was actually in my Dremel kit. (Who knew) I couldn't tell you what grit it was, but I was thinking that I was going to use one of the fine grinding wheels any way. When I saw that I had the stone, I went with it, then up to the sand paper.
