Don't Like it? Suggit.

Your avg speed tells me you don't do very much highway driving. If your foot is heavy, I could see 12mpg.
A friend of mine has a mostly-stock L99 and getting 16mpgs driving to work and back- all city. And she drives like an old lady.

I checked my MPG's for the first time in several weeks last night too...says 11.2. Its weird because I used to get about 16. same miles per day driven, same commute, only thing that has changed is the hi flow cats and the solo exhaust...I sure do love that sound!!!

On base the speeds are 35 and 25. My mpg goes as low as 12 when driving low speed stop and go, sounds about right because of the sitting and the acceleration and braking.

Do that fuse pull bro! Kind of a waste to burn 93 octane and you're not even sure that you are on the high octane table, huh? Keep us posted!

3-5 miles is the problem, the car never warms up. The car is running rich to get the cats up to temp to lower emissions, fluids are all cold and thick. (8 qts of oil) Look at the oil temp it probably never gets up to 200 degrees. The exhaust will wear out faster as well because you never get that hot enough to burn off the condensation. Short trips are the worst thing you can do to a car.

What's a light foot?
I do 80% highway driving and I average 16-19 depending on mood!

Mine too, Im still running 15 mpg lifetime....16 since the last fill up according to my Onstar Android app. The thing is, yes my foot is heavy but I haven't ran it above 4000 RPM yet either.
My LS3 has 600 miles, looking forward to the 18/19 some are getting with more mileage. Maybe the L99 is just a bigger gas hog compared to the LS3 around town? Doubt the dealer will care. My car has seen about 75% city 25% highway and it's only on it's 2nd tank of fuel. Have you done your first oil change yet? I would (well I already did at 500 miles) to full synthetic. There was metal in my oil filter too. |
