GEARS!! Am thinking about gears...

I am thinking if I get gears, that will finish off the car...have had a cam in for 2 months now(haven't been able to thrash it because of the weather). I am thinking about the 3.91's. I never use 6th gear now, so maybe I might be able to use it. probably would install myself...should be easier than the cam was...

any opinions about ratios??

3.91's are quite popular since they're OEM (1LE) and cheap. If you're a M6, you're good to go. If you're a A6, the 3.70's would be ideal but 3.91's would still work quite well.

Im about to install 4.33s should be a blast on the street. I was considering the 3.91s before the 4.33s

The 3.91s are pretty popular, but in a M6 I would suggest going with a 4.10 if you will stay NA. Makes for a much nicer ratio on the street and the track.

3.91 and 4.11 are both really great street/strip ratios the M6 cars. By upgrading to 3.91s you will realize an equivalent torque gain of approximately 13% or 54.6 lb.-ft. of torque and cruise at 1800 RPM at 70 MPH in 6th gear. By upgrading to 4.11s you will realize an equivalent torque gain of approximately 20% or 84 lb.-ft. of torque and cruise at 1915 RPM at 70 MPH in 6th gear.

Unless you have experience installing gears, particularly in IRS cars, I do not recommend trying it yourself. It is one of those things that requires a bit of artistry in addition to the technical know how. Even if you are capable of completing the install there is a big of difference between a good install and a bad one. Just be sure to do some research before you finalize that decision.

Just the opposite here. I have the 3.91's but am thinking of doing a cam! I think this combo would be perfect together!

Interesting correlation between torque and gear ratio. Was wondering how to compare...If I do it myself I would do Plenty of research. Just started thinking about it now
