Normal Drive vs Sport Mode
So I wanted to gauge if it's just me that struggles with this or if a lot of people do. I've got an automatic transmission so putting the car in drive after backing up or whatever is just kind of second nature to me (as in I don't look down when I do it, just pull the shifter back). But since I've had this car, I swear I mistakenly put the thing in sport mode about 1/3 of the time. Am I the only one that does this on accident or is it some sort of design "flaw"? One complaint that I definitely have is that a glance at the knob isn't super apparent as to what position it is in.

Just you.
I've never had a problem with it. A few times I have done it I can tell by the shift points.

Ya that's typically how I notice it too, either that or it taking off when you even touch the throttle at a light or something. Definitely wouldn't describe it as a problem, more just an observation I've made.

Why would this be a problem....I always drive in sport mode. The car is much more responsive.

I also always use sport mode when not using tapshift and have for almost 75,000 miles with no problems. From the factory sport mode settings are no where near as aggressive as drive mode with a tune unless it was untouched.

You can always look at the DIC and see which letter is to the left of the odometer. "D" = Drive. "S" = Sport Mode. "M" = Manual (when using paddles)

It's not putting in sport mode that is a problem. I intentionally put it there. My problem is going into reverse. By habit I keep going into neutral and revving before realizing it is not in reverse. Other cars don't have S on the shifter.

yup I do it too.. I had to teach myself NOT to hold the button going from reverse to drive, it will lock @ drive you have to engage the button to get to "S".
just need to teach yourself to grab the top of the knob and not wrap your hand around it. though overall it makes no real difference as it is still in auto mode unless you use the paddles, and "S" is more responsive for passing and freeway on ramps.
