i have a good question. Fuel injection, or LS swap

right now I'm in the process of buying a Gen1 camaro. and i want to do something different so its more reliable and long distance friendly. I'm definitely doing a 6-speed swap, but now I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the engine.

EFI- cheap, seems like its better than a carb n whatnot.

LS swap- well i know it would be the best for drivibility, easy to get parts for etc. but expensive.

so what do you think i should do? any pros or cons to em both? has anyone gone either of these routes?

I think the ls1 2 or 3 swap would be the best swap, you can find 4 gen cars cheap that will have most of what you need to swap out, great power and economy so you can really enjoy the car.

Go with the LS and the 6 speed! You will really be happy with the OD.

I have a 97 LT1 and 6 Speed in my 67, and doing 80 at 2000 RPMs for a long road trip is really nice.

The power is great, maintenance is easier as well.

why not do a carb'd LS1? like this one....
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21225

Efi can be cheap as long as its tuned properly.

ls series motors are becoming cheaper to build and mod than in previous years. you can get a running ls1 for less than $1000.00

hell, even a 5.3L can be made to put out some serious power. a 6 speed is nice, the trans will depend on your wants and needs for the car. tho my A4 in my 94Z would let me cruise @ 80 around 2100rpms (till I put the stall and the gears in it)

The LS swap isn't that expensive if you don't want it to be. You can get a 5.3L for next to nothing and the mounts are plentiful these days.

An EFI gas tank, with pump, is under $500 and the most expesive part will be the harness and ECU flash (Try Speartech). If you want to go really cheap then just run the factory exhaust manifolds.

I just built a 5.3L .. with good heads and 4.8L pistons (for increased compression) it made 490hp and 445 pounds of torque.

It's really hard to beat an LS engine.
