2013 Constraints

The first 2013 allocations came out on Thursday May 10. I was hoping that my order would be pulled for production beginning June 11. However I learned that there are a few ordering constraints.
1. Full size spare
2. Blue Ray Metallic paint (until August)
3. Navigation Radio - startup constraint less than 4 weeks.
4. 1LE track package
5, Beige convertible top.

The only one that affects me is the NAV radio. It should be available in a few weeks.

I just dont understand the paint issues, why must people wait just for a certain color? Parts shortages I can see happening, but paint?

I heard about the Nav constraint when I placed my order. Does the 4 weeks mean from "now" or the start of production in June? If "now" why bother mentioning it? In any case I'm waiting for it.

I had a question about the mention of a full size spare. The description for the '12s says 18" spare. If I ordered the R/S package with 20" wheels, what size spare will be delivered?

You'll probably just get an air compressor and a can of fix a flat. Thats what came with my car with 20in wheels

That should have read compact spare and only an inflator kit is available for SS and RS models.
The NAV Radio constraint seems to be only a startup constraint and should be available for ordering in a couple of weeks. That just means that for whatever reason they will not be installing NAV Radios at the beginning of production on June 11.
New paint colors are often constrained while the factory gears up for spraying the new color.

"only an inflator kit is available for SS and RS models."

Interesting, the Camaro website let's you configure RS and SS models with mini-spare. I wonder if that is a bug in the website?

All SS cars and cars with 20" or 21" tires get an inflator kit and cannot get a mini spare. Only 1LS 2LS 1LT and 2LT cars with 18" or 19" tires can be configured with a mini spare.

Thanks for the info! Technically what you say makes perfect sense.

However I'm still a little confused on the mini-spare with 20" wheels point.

When doing a Camaro search in my geographic area I came across this one:

vin: 2G1FC3D37C9168521

Which is a 2012 2LT with the RS package and the mini-spare listed on the window sticker.

I'm pretty sure I've seen other similar window stickers as well.

So it would appear GM will configure 20" wheels and a mini-spare.

I think it would need to be a short trip in the event the mini-spare is used with bigger wheels.

I would bet the 20" wheels are not the issue, but the larger rotors will not clear a mini spare. Which explains why they are available on the V6 models and not the V8.

It's not a shortage issue. They want to make sure that there is a consistency to the color, ie shade and quality, before they release it to the masses. It can take some time to get a new shade just right when they start production.

I have a 2013 2SS/RS vert on order (since 4/29) with the NAV system, dual mode exhaust, and polished aluminum wheels. GMconnects has it listed as code 2030, which I understand means that someone at GM has looked at my order online. Does the constraint on the NAV stereo mean my status will sit at 2030 for a few more weeks until they have NAV stereos in stock? GRRRR. I ordered a similar 2012 two days too late (3/29) and this wait is killing me.

Apparently, yes. Becky posted about this in the stickied order status thread this morning.

Yes thats exactly what it means. I am in the same situation. Hopefully the NAV will be available in a few weeks.
