Who has the best 6 speed

Camaro SS or Mustang 5.0? I've drove the 5.0 but not the LS3 and just ordered a LS3 and got rid of my L99

Never driven a 5.0. My LS3 transmission seems pretty legit, though.

im not sure about now, but I do know when the 5.0 debuted they did not share a Tremec Tr6060. The 5.0 had something else and did have issues after launch, I think the problem has been rectified but Im not sure if it is equipped with a tremec or not. I would go ahead and call the Tr6060 bulletproof just like its predecessor the T56 which was used in C5 vettes, GTO's, Fbods, 03-04 Cobras and some C6 models, including the C6-Z Im thinking the viper also used a tremec.... not sure on the viper however.

My thoughts on the 5.0 was it seems clunky if that makes sense. It was a 2011 5.0 with 24,000 miles.

I've heard about a bunch of problems with the Mustang 6 speed manual trans. And I didn't think they came with the TR-6060 trans (like the SS).

What is your criteria?

Reliability - very good, can take a fair amount of abuse
Longevity - very good, if you take care of it.
Smoothness - average at best. This is not gonna shift like a honda and shouldn't
Noise level - very noisy. Lot of clanking, throw out bearing noise. Lot of drive line slop
Clutch effort/feel - feel smooth and easy to me. Clutch engage point feels a little high to me though.
Shifter feel, throw length - very good on the 1le/zl1 short throw shifters.
Cost to repair - expensive but not as bad as an exotic car
Gear ratios - nice that chevy offers optimized ratios for road track with the 1le vs typical use depending on how you plan to use the car.

The mustang 5.0L is an MT82 foreign built 6 speed and its a piece of shit. The 6 speed in our Camaros is aTR6060, same as the one in the older GT500's. So the Camaro has the better transmission.

Ummm... Tremec manufactures their TR6060 and the rest of their transmissions in Mexico.

AND... even the GT500 TR6060's had 2nd gear problems just like the TR6060's in the Camaros...
