Ravelco anti-theft

I've seen far too many threads turn up here that have to do with people having their camaros stolen. I feel like maybe this system should be something for people who live in high crime rate areas to consider on their investments, should they see fit enough. Maybe it would help lower the amount of stolen camaros and lower the interest in even stealing from them in the first place.

I don't know about you guys, but $500 is cheaper than ~$30k for a new SS in my book, seems like cheap insurance.

Only issue I see is that this can't beat a tow truck. Otherwise I would say that it's a solid investment for those in areas with high stolen car numbers.

Doesn't matter if it's a $500 kill switch or a 99 cent one from Radio Shack. As long as it's installed in a way that the wiring or components can't be found of followed, the thieves stealing these Camaros won't be able to start them using their usual methods and move on to easier targets.

None of that will matter with a tow truck. But in at least the thefts in the Bay Area, they seem to be driving the cars away.

I'm just worried that thieves will get more bold and move on from thefts from driveways, malls and parking structures onto carjackings. As someone who was a victim of a carjacking 21 years ago and nearly dieing in the process, I don't wish that on any of you.

I am looking into some kind of device myself. My Camaro is garage kept but is when I leave it in my company garage which worries me. They do have security cameras but I don't think that will deter thieves.

How to hug your camaro
Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

Did some research about this device and now I am thinking about getting it. Only problem is they don't have a dealer in my state.

Answered your own question. I plan on getting Ravelco after my supercharger is installed.

Make sure you read all the negatives first. I posted links on another thread but this can be bypassed also in minutes from what the installers say. It adds another layer but there are cheaper ways to go to just add other layers of security.

Every security device can be defeated. It all depends on how badly they want your vehicle.

Agreed but I just don't want anyone thinking this is all they need. Not to mention it's not worth 500 to me.

Where are these negative reviews? Tried googling but mostly "moderated" from what it looks like from the Ravelco dealers websites.

I don't know why you couldn't find any. Look at the alarm installers forums.
