pretty cool Vid. I agree that the ZL1 just seems so at home on the ring! i wonder what kind of time they could have gotten with the right driver behind the wheel?

Cool comparison. You can see how the all wheel drive keeps the subaru gripped even once it loses traction a bit. Looks like the wrx had faster mid-corner speeds, but got trounced in the straights. It would be a lot more interesting with one of the special edition subarus though. The version tested in that vid is closer in price to the SS.

The STi is nowhere close to being a "ricer," as it is actually a fast car that can perform extremely well. A ricer is a foreign car (mainly Asian, but not always) that is made to look and sound fast, but is not.

The Big Boy is Bad!

Man O Man!! The ZL1 is a str8 UP BRUTE! the way this car corners @106+ MPH then comes out of a U curve @60MPH and in less than 3 secs it's back at 135+ MPH. Amazing mix of balance, weight and power. The Hymns coming from that big block is ferocious! The Muscle is back with Chevy!

I love watching these Nurburgring videos! Has Ford released any on their Boss 302 or the Laguna Seca?

I went to the Subaru Canada web site to build one of these cars for the sake of interest.

By the looks of it they don’t come cheap. I figure the price tag after taxes is around $51000.00. There are a lot nicer cars out there for that price; also I don’t think Subaru has a warranty for track use if something breaks on the car.

Here is a copy of some of the engine specs.

Engine: 2.5L Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC), 16-valve, horizontally opposed, 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER high-performance engine with high-pressure turbocharger and high-capacity intercooler, Electronic Throttle Control and Dual Active Valve Control System
Power: 305 hp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 290 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm

The curb weight for this car was about 2800 lbs

It would be interesting to see how long this engine lasts before it blows up.

I wouldn't say these two are directly comparable... not stock anyway's, the STI is a great car. I am not sure where the guy above me got 51k but in America a WRX STI cost like 34k before any options. Great price, great car.

I do seem to noticed a difference between drivers I think somebody touched on that subject though

Engine wont blow up any time soon, Subi's run forever. And A 2010 STI weighs about 3360 lbs, unless this car isnt stock but either way they are great cars.

The STi in the video is not stock. It was a Subaru prototype:
