Would my camaro become obsolete in 5 years?

So I just got my 2013 Camaro 1LS.

I've already started looking at upgrades and mods but then I stopped to think, "I should probably start all this when my warranty is up and my car is finally paid off in 60 months."

Then I started thinking: in 2018, if I do add a Supercharger, CAI, exhaust system/headers, brakes/tires, all the bells and whistles, will it still be able to hold up against the technological advancements of 2018 stock Mustangs, Camaros, etc?

I'm new to the entire car hobby thing so I probably sound like a babbling idiot.

Opinions? Thoughts? Comments?

Assuming I've saved up enough money in those 5 years to afford all those within 2018. Otherwise, 2019, 2020...probably 2021 at the latest

It's like asking if the TV I buy today will be obsolete in 5 years, well I am sure there will be improvments, and who knows what regulations may be in effect that may choke down performance cars by then. My opinion is not to worry about the future cars, enjoy yours now and in 5 years then decide.

There will always be something better around the corner. Enjoy the car you have, mod it a little along the way. If you add forced induction in five years you'll be ahead of the base model Camaro in terms of performance.

2018 is a super long way off in the car world. Cars could continue to develop and become faster or they may start stepping back the performance. However even if you do mod your V6 you may have upgraded to an SS or something by that point.

One perspective is to look around at older cars... do they look good? Do they look obsolete, or are they still contenders? There are cars and trucks 20 years old (not quite old enough to have "classic," "antique," or "nostalgic" status) that seem like pretty slick rides. 3rd gen Camaros still make me swoon, especially well- kept ones. Of course, the newer models will usually be better, faster, stronger, and be filled with bells and whistles and gadgets that we haven't seen yet, but... my opinion is that 10 years from now, our 5th gens will still look great, not outdated, even though there will be newer ones out there.

And, much of it is simply "eye of the beholder" syndrome... some people turn their noses up at an ancient, two- year- old car, while others are happy with the looks of a car, well, forever. I read the other day that the AVERAGE age of a car on the American road today is 11 years... assuming that that status remains for a while, any car under 11 years old is one of the "newer" ones!

Anyhow... just look around for cars five, ten, twenty years old, and get at least a rough idea of how relevant your 2013 will be in a few years... and, like a couple of posts above mention, enjoy your car for what it does for you!

I'm not sure when it was said ( I think in the 50's ) that someday we all would have flying cars, I'm glad I didn't wait for that to happen.

Also remember the federal government will possibly put a hinderance on performance cars.
