Catch Can ?

Sorry guys, another question for all you guys. As stated before, I have a brand new 2015 ZL1 , I ordered my Roto-Fab CAI and it should be here today, but I also have read a lot about catch cans...So the only engine mod I will be doing is the CAI and the car will basically be a weekend driver not a DD, do I really need a catch can ? And if so , does this void factory warranty ?

It does not void any warranty... You don't "NEED" it but it keeps oil out of your throttle body and basically just keeps things cleaner so you don't have to. Your engine will not fail due to not having a catch can.

It is basically preventative maintenance that you would otherwise have to do in order to keep things running smoothly.

ok, guys..not to beat a dead horse, but I was thinking about this on my way home from work. so what does changing the stock air intake to any other after market cai have to do with a catch can ? I mean the stock set up didn't come with one right ? in other words, if you were not going to change out you stock intake to , would you still install a catch can ?

Two independent systems, just both happen to be common first modifications. The catch can is for the bottom side of your pistons and valve train pressure and ventilation. From the factory the intake system sucks the oil vapors from the crankcase and runs it through the engine to keep everything "contained".

The catch can allows the oil vapors to settle in the can instead of feeding it back into the intake tract.

thanks for that info Redlineviper, but again, if you leaving your stock intake, would you still need or want to install a catch can ?

Yes, same benefit with the stock intake vs aftermarket.
