Does using paddles kill AFM?
If I shift to manual and paddle my way up to 6th on the interstate, is AFM killed while in 6th? This is a 13 2ss A6....

AFM kicks in when cruising at a set speed on a set rpm so in order to completely kill your AFM while using only paddles you would have to be cruising in 5th on the highway iirc

Seems to be if you shift up then down then back up, it turns off afm. But will come back if you get out of 'M'

thx....so lets say I have a leg of the trip that is 200 miles of flat interstate - what you are are saying is: 1.put it in M 2.accelerate up ramp and merge -paddle up to 6th as I get up to 75 (my speed) 3. then paddle to 5th and back to 6th and I should be good to kill AFM as long as I stay there with Cruise control? |

You don't have to paddle thru the gears first in mine. If I just paddle to 5th and back to 6th while in Sport mode, it kills AFM in my 2010.

AFM will be disabled if you shift up then down then back up. Which is how you get into full manual mode, you have to shift up and down.
There is a mode where the car shifts down, and you shift up, but AFM is still there |

So you want to disable a fuel management feature when cruising long distances on the interstate???
I drove over 300 miles last weekend on a poker run and I averaged 21mpg the whole time. I love my AFM! I didn't even use a full tank! Don't you want to save fuel? What's the purpose??? Am I missing something? |

Good for you...it tugs on my car something fierce, when going in and out...I hate it....used a range to kill it but sold it, this car being traded in ...my new c7 vette is 1200 miles away...my last road trip in the c5....

You realize that all the c7's have AFM (pretty sure that's what I read)? Sure hope that it isn't as annoying on the c7's as it is on the camaro. I suspect that range will get many more sales of the range AFM device.

It's not. You have to be in Eco mode for AFM on the C7
