How did you run your fastest stock times?
I see there are a couple guys who have run in the 11.7s with their stock ZL1s....how? I've run in different conditions, and as far as I can see, I have the best 60' time for stock tires. 1.74. Yet, my best time has been 11.99 @ 118.8. How is it possible to run quicker times on stock tires? They are pretty much useless below 60 degrees. My ls1 SS would always run a new best at Cecil county raceway in December with negative da weather conditions...even on street tires. That car has run 11.7s on street tires on a cold track, with a manual. There is no way in hell the stock tires on the ZL1 would think about hooking in those conditions.

I think we're going to need both incredible track prep and low DA to go 11.7x's.
Was your 11.99@118.8 pass done in Sport mode? T/C and Stabilitrak off? PTM mode? I'd kill for your 118.8. I'm going to try one more time on the 16th. |

When my car was bone stock, I got a 1.76 on stock tires but only ran 12.3@113 because it was 95 degrees and humid that day. All about the DA!!

Yes...no need to prepay or sign up. Just show up with $100 cash and run. If everyone shows up, there might be as many as 6 ZL1s there

From what I have read, the 11.7's have been run in cooler weather. Turn off all nannies, take it to 2,500-2,750 RPM's and dump it. It CAN be done, good luck!!!

The question isn't whether the car has the power, I just don't understand how anyone has gotten the stock tires to stick well enough on a cold day to run those numbers.

Stop doing burnouts.. ens story.. period.. dont argue..
This has been asked several times.. you do your burnout, your I.a.ts are already so high its pulling timing before the 60 foot.. roll through, burp it to clean them off and prey to the track prep gods...

I've got multiple datalogs in HP Tuners that show my IAT2 only rising 2 degrees with a 3 to 4 second burnout. And it doesn't rise again until I'm back in the throttle after launch. |

Air up your fronts to 55-60 psi to minimize the tire's contact patch. Does make a difference.

3-4 seconds at a lower rpm will not create big heat. I see guys doing these big burnouts then cry they are going slow.
