left it with my installer. Back in 04 when I bought my truck, I installed a magnaflow cat-back and kept the original exhaust. Now some 8 years later the original is nothing but a pain, and the magnaflow is still doing great. If you buy a quality stainless steel system it will last forever.

I put an axleback on my SS and kept the mufflers for no other reason than when I took them off I thought it was cool that the serial number of my car was written on top of them. Also I have all the paperwork from the build of my car and It was pulled from production for almost 2 months during the build...I have been trying to find out if the two are related..not that it means anything ..just curious

I'm a machanic, have been professionally for over 35 years, a good machanic doesn't throw away ANYTHING!! at least once you have one or two...lol you never can tell when you'll need it, or someone you know will. so with that in mind....KEEP IT. if nothing else, plug up both ends to keep all critters out and store it in your attic.

I still have mine too and have been wondering the same thing. I put an ad on the site, but no takers. I figure I'll just hang it on my garage wall as a decoration. Somebody said a scrap yard might give me like 10 bucks for it or something. Screw that.

For about the next week I was trying to decide what to do, my car was only 4 months old at that point and I already had everything in my signature installed plus custom painted stripes.

Afterwords I came to my senses and decided it wasn't worth the beating I would take. But I checked into finding a used LS3 exhaust and found Nickey Chevy had a bunch of takeoffs. They wanted $250 a piece and the guy told me they sell them to shops so that price was pretty much it. Funny thing I could barely give it away but somehow those guys found a market for them.

I would say keep it if you can. You never know when that 2013/4 might sway you to make a move. If yours would have fit an LS3 I might have been calling you.
If you ever want two of them let me know. I have them just laying around.

I've had mine sitting for almost 2 1/2 years now and I've had Zero(0) need or use for it. Also have my stock Manifold & Cats that I need to get rid of.... If I can find a Metal scrap yard that would give me $175+ for it all I'll cut the tips off and get rid of it all in a heart beat.

I did axleback and they immediately went to the landfill. I told a co-worker who said never throw anything like that away again. He also owns a sawmill and wanted them for the engine that runs the blade. How cool would that be? A giant buzzsaw with a Camaro SS exhaust!

Enjoying your replys

(OP) Reading all the replys is fun. I am putting on a Corsa system tomorrow, and I do expect it to last as long as I own the car. As you know the orig system comes off in one big assembly. (Long, wide and awkward). After reading all the different ideas, I am thinking that if I cut off the mufflers in the same place where you would cut them off to install an axle back exhaust. Then I should be able to fit it thru the opening in my garage ceiling into the attic. (Sir Nuke's) suggestion. It could stay up in the attic for years. This could be the answer.

Good idea.
Don't junk them the longer the 5th is around the more people and body shops would want them. If you decide to sell your car put stock back on and sell your aftermarket pipes. Dealerships seem to prefer stock vehicles anyways.
