Paint your mufflers!

Here's a picture of our Camaro as I was painting the mufflers before I finished doing both. With the black valance, IMO the mufflers stand out too much so I painted both. I used Rustoleum "High Heat" spray paint (I'm sure any paint for a Bar-B-Que would do).

Clean the mufflers with dawn or any grease removing cleaner using a dobbie or other rough surface brush or sponge. I don't recommend using any sort of sand paper. Let dry or use a leaf blower to get the moisture off.

I don't think you should paint them while they're hot. As with any spay paint, put on several light coats, let 'em dry between coats (about 8-10 min), and make sure you mask off the area surrounding what you're painting. The paint I used said to wait one hour (I know, it ain't easy to wait). After that, drive your a$$ off.

I'd say it's an improvement, but I can't say for sure I would go through with it.

Im not sure if there is anything to be worried about so that is why im asking since i plan on doing the same thing

I would be worried that the paint would start to chip off. Then it would look like a$$!

No it has nothing to do with wearing off...it's spray paint, so it would just be a matter of re-painting it...I'm just not sure how much I hate the shiny mufflers. I'll let you know when I finally own one.

Can you post the pics of both done? We can compare against a normal RJT to see which one's got the goods....

Thanks!

LOL, just kidding. he painted the actually mufflers so they arent so apparent to the vehicles behind.

This looks pretty good and I will probably do it to mine when it gets here. What did you do to protect the rest of you car from over spray? just drape it with a painters tarp or something?
