^ I did the same thing you did after I damaged it. I was willing to replace it but figured I'd give wheel repair a shop.

A good shop in my area had me in and out same day and I couldn't be happier

Pics of my recent run-in with the curb. I contacted AWRS Wheel Repair - a "nation-wide" service, and while the price was fair, I'm not sure that a "mobile" wheel repair has the same capabilities as a "shop" type. I called a local Chevrolet dealer - talked to their parts dept to try and find a paint code - was told that the wheels are powder coated and that it would be nearly impossible to "match" the color. I was also informed by a very reputable source that a paint code DOES exist (WA848).

So, has anyone had their damage painted? Are these wheels powder coated or painted? If so - do you know if the repair shop used a specific paint code?

I think they did some grinding in that area. I tire wasn't removed from the wheel for repairs. I think it may look like that because the wheels edge isn't perfectly round.

Can someone verify these wheels stock are painted rather than powder coated?

This was my belief but could be wrong

Painted, I even saw the code posted a while back. Can't remember if it was here or in the zl1 forum, but it exists

My cousin works at a wheel repair shop in Tampa. Let me know if you're interested and I can get him in contact with you or you with him.

I was one of those suckers that went to the chevy dealer and bought a new rim. Only good thing is they gave me my core back. So now I have a wheel (with no tire) hanging out in my garage. I might try to get it fixed and sell it. I am sure someone will want it for a pair of drag tires or a spare for their trunk. Left Rear

It's a forged wheel. Forged wheels are expensive.

You gotta pay to play.

LOL. Yeah, WA848 is called BLACK. GM code 19. DuPont code 99. Was used back in the 80s. Think of the old 85-87 Buick Grand National color.

The Camaro black exterior color is WA8555, coded GBA.
